Did you know that Eugene is home to one of the nation’s premiere marathon events? The Eugene Marathon is a qualifier for both the Boston Marathon and Olympic trials, so the stakes will be high for competitive runners both in and outside the area. But more than anything else, the event is just a great opportunity to get out there and run, on an extremely flat and fast course.
Although this is the Eugene Marathon’s 13th year, a new course will be featured this time around, starting and finishing at Autzen Stadium. There’s simply no better way to experience the magic of Track Town USA–except, perhaps, for the Olympic Track and Field Trials, slated to return to Eugene’s Hayward Field in 2020.
Friday, April 26 before the race will see the return of the Health & Fitness Expo at Lane Events Center. Saturday’s featured events are the 5k and kids’ Duck Dash, while the big race is scheduled for 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 28. Whether you’re competing or just cheering from the sidelines, it’s not an event to be missed.
