Giving Back

Giving back to our Eugene and Bend communities and planting positive seeds

At LOHR Real Estate, we are committed to the community where we live and do business. In our approach to real estate, no home is an island unto itself. Each home is part of a broader ecosystem.

We want to help you find your community, a place where you and your family can live your lives to their very fullest. The saying “It takes a village…” deeply informs our philosophy as a business. Our goal is to be a good member and steward of our community and to help nurture the seeds of a better world.

This goal deeply informs the way we approach real estate. It starts by doing business with people, by meeting you as a person and not as a means to an end. This means providing honest, straightforward advice tailored to your particular needs, not to our bottom line. Our job is to work hard for you and to leave no stone unturned.

How LOHR Real Estate Gives Back

Our business philosophy also informs the way we give back to our community. Lohr Real Estate has offices both in the Eugene/Springfield and Bend/Redmond areas, and we deeply care about both these communities. Part of our mission is therefore to give back on the most local level possible. In that spirit, a portion of all our profits go toward supporting local organizations that enhance the quality of our neighborhoods.

In particular, we believe passionately that some of our closest friends happen to have fur and that pets play a big role in raising the quality of life in our homes and neighborhoods. Our own office wouldn’t be complete without the loving and very vocal presence of Gus, a six-year-old Shichon poo. We affectionately refer to him as “the closer.”

In order to help care for our community’s animals and those who care for them, we therefore donate to several local no-kill animal shelters. BrightSide Animal Center in Redmond, just north of Bend, has one of the highest save rates in the country. At the same time, their admission policy doesn’t select for the most adoptable, meaning that all manner of unhoused pets can receive loving care.

Eugene’s Greenhill Humane Society and S.A.R.A’s Treasures are dedicated to caring compassionately for animals and both are strong community advocates for the lives of pets. Greenhill is currently conducting a capital campaign aimed at constructing new, state-of-the-art housing for dogs, cats, and other animals, as well as an expanded veterinary clinic.

S.A.R.A’s Treasures is dedicated specifically to rescuing animals from shelters where they might face euthanasia then finding them homes. S.A.R.A stands for “Shelter Animal Resource Alliance.” In order to help fund their activities, they operate a thrift store in Eugene’s River Road neighborhood but also rely on private donations. We’re proud to do what we can to help.

Part of our mission is to keep you informed about this and other community projects via our blog. Whatever your passion, interests or talents, we want to help you find somewhere you can plug in and become involved.
